HOW ARE LAWYERS PAID?
Usually, lawyers are paid by the hour, or they receive a percentage of the total (if any) which is recovered. The latter is called a contingency fee; that approach is common among personal injury attorneys. In addition, lawyers charge for out of pocket costs, such as court filing fees, messenger fees, expert witness fees and other third party expenses.
DOES GIBSON LAW, PC WORK ON CONTINGENCY FEE CASES?
No. In certain cases, however, GIBSON LAW PC will work on a hybrid basis, in which the client is charged a discounted hourly fee and GIBSON LAW PC also receives a percentage of the total recovery..
DOES GIBSON LAW PC REQUIRE PAYMENT OF A RETAINER UP FRONT?
Yes. We will not begin work on a case until we receive a retainer, which will cover approximately the first month and a half of fees and costs.
WHAT PARTS OF CALIFORNIA DOES GIBSON LAW PRACTICE IN?
GIBSON LAW PC practices in all parts of California.
CAN GIBSON LAW, PC HANDLE CASES OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA?
Richard Gibson is only licensed to practice law in California. He can and does, however, appear in other states on a special basis (called pro hac vice.) He has handled approximately a half dozen cases in the State and Federal Courts of Arizona, as well as in Colorado, Florida and New Jersey.
